Ransomware Hunters International Claims Theft of 1.4 TB of Data from Tata Technologies

The Ransomware Hunters International group has claimed responsibility for breaching the systems of Tata Technologies, a global technology subsidiary of Tata Motors, and stealing 1.4 terabytes (TB) of data. The group has threatened to release the stolen information, which reportedly includes over 730,000 files. In response, Tata Technologies has reported the incident to the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and temporarily disconnected certain IT systems to prevent further damage before successfully restoring full operations.

Tata Technologies confirmed that the attack impacted some IT systems but did not affect customer services. The company has notified relevant authorities and is conducting an investigation with external cybersecurity experts. The stolen data is believed to include business documents, financial records, engineering projects, and employee personal information, such as Aadhar card numbers, a critical identification document in India.

Hunters International emerged in the cybercrime landscape following the international law enforcement takedown of Hive, a notorious ransomware group. Cybersecurity experts have noted similarities between Hunters International’s code and Hive’s, raising suspicions that the group may be an evolution or reformation of the dismantled Hive ransomware operation.
