Two hospitals in the United Kingdom targeted by cyberattacks.

Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in the United Kingdom has disclosed that its systems were targeted in a cyberattack, resulting in the theft and online publication of patient data and other critical information. The ransomware group Inc Ransom claimed responsibility, stating they obtained data spanning from 2018 to 2024. The hospital has confirmed it is enhancing security measures, assuring that current services remain unaffected by the incident.

Meanwhile, Wirral University Teaching Hospital had to shut down its IT systems and revert to paper documentation after detecting suspicious activity. This disruption led to delays in some services, such as appointments and surgeries, while emergency services continued to operate, albeit with longer-than-usual wait times. Although there has been no confirmation linking the Wirral incident to ransomware, system shutdowns are often a precautionary measure in such scenarios. Both hospitals are working closely with relevant authorities to resolve the issues and assess the potential impact on compromised data.
